Welcome to San Antonio and the 2017 GCAGS-GCSSEPM Convention! All guests and spouses are invited to take part in the events that are included in your registration fee. In addition, two activities are available at extra cost that will give you the opportunity to see San Antonio and the local San Antonio culture. The Guest Fee includes the Opening Session, Icebreaker, Exhibition Hall and all coffee breaks. Please note that professionals may not register as guests.

Join us in the Hospitality Suite at the Marriott Rivercenter Hotel, Vice Presidential Suite from Wednesday, November 1st, through Friday, November 3rd. Morning and afternoon refreshments will be available daily. Our hostesses will be on hand to answer any questions about local restaurants and shopping.

Activity #1:  Shopping and Art (Sponsorship Available)

Location:  Marriott Rivercenter lobby
Description: Tour a fascinating factory that manufactures shoes! San Antonio Shoe features everything from walking and athletic shoes to pumps, flats, sandals. SAS remains a family-owned company that sells shoes in the United States, Canada, Mexico, Australia, Korea, Kuwait, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Panama, Chile, Israel and England.  Then catch the spirit of the West at the Briscoe Western Art Museum. The tour of this breathtaking, new and beautiful Museum and its art will help to preserve the art and culture of the American West. Then it’s off it to the Pearl where you will experience the new and the incredible Pearl District where you will have time to explore the wonderful shops, fifteen restaurants and cafes and it’s just steps from the San Antonio River Walk.

Activity #2:  Missions and Markets (Sponsorship Available)

Description: San Antonio is home to one of the few National Parks located within an urban setting, the Mission Trail.  Mission San Jose, located just south of our downtown, offers an informative film followed by a walk on the grounds of the largest and best restored of all the missions. The church is one of the most beautiful in the country with its elaborate carvings on the chapel facade. The El Mercado, or Historic Market Square, is the largest Mexican-style market place outside Mexico. With two distinctive shopping and dining locations, there is something for everyone. You will have an hour to walk around to explore and lunch is included. You will also have the opportunity to enjoy a quick driving tour of downtown San Antonio, which will include the Spanish Governor’s Palace, a national historic landmark and San Fernando Cathedral, the original church of the Canary Island settlers built in 1731 and one of the oldest churches in continuous use in the country.

Wear comfortable shoes.  This mission tour includes seeing two missions and their stories and also a visit to the Japanese Tea Garden. Included is lunch at Mi Tierra at Market square and time to shop at the Mexican Mercado.]
